Thomas M. Edens
President & Founder
Mr. Edens' career,
prior to founding Marion Financial Corp. in 1988,
was as the chief financial officer of Bayou Resources,
Inc., a publicly held oil and gas company, which
acquired companies and properties. The company was
sold to a NYSE company in 1987. His formal education
includes a B.S. degree in Accounting from McNeese
State University and a M.S. degree in Accounting
(with a concentration in finance) from the University
of Houston. Mr. Edens is a Certified Public Accountant
(CPA), and is Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV)
by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
His professional affiliations include the American
Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Association
for Corporate Growth, National Association of Certified
Valuation Analysts (NACVA), the ACA International,
Asset Buyer's Program of ACA, Healthcare Financial
Management Association (HFMA) and International Factoring
Association (IFA). He is a National Association of
Securities Dealers (NASD), Corporate Securities Limited
Registered Representative (Series 62 & 63).
Mr. Edens has appeared
at numerous state, national and international trade
conventions to speak on valuation and M&A transaction
topics. In addition, Mr. Edens has had numerous articles
published in trade journals regarding merger, acquisition
and valuation issues. He has also co-chaired an industry
conference in 1998 titled - Mergers & Acquisitions
in the Collections and Accounts Receivable Management
Industry. He is the author of the workshop "Selling
Your Agency - the Process and Pitfalls" which
he has presented on a national basis.
Mr. Edens is on the Board
of Advisors for the Collections & Credit
Risk magazine published monthly by Source Media.
In addition, he was Chairman of Affiliate Member
Committee of ACA International from 2000 to 2003.

John
P. Brown
Vice President
John has over 30
years of business experience, and has been involved
in commercial real estate investments with two
major life insurance companies, a pension fund,
as well as in banking, and in the real estate
investment trust industry. His experience includes
asset management, acquisitions, joint ventures,
and loan underwriting. He spent eight years in
the real estate investment field offices of The
Equitable Life Assurance Society of the U.S.
in Washington, D.C., Pittsburgh, and Houston.
From 1983 through 1987, he was Senior Real Estate
Officer with Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance
Company in Houston responsible for new investments
in loans and equity acquisitions. Later he served
as the Investment Officer in charge of a $2 billion
real estate portfolio for the Teacher Retirement
System of Texas. He was Assistant Vice President
and Senior Asset Manager for First Heights Bank
in Houston where he was the primary officer responsible
for asset dispositions and management for 27
properties with book values in excess of $118
million. He has worked nine years as a consultant
in the commercial real estate and banking industries,
performing various assignments which have included
asset reviews, budgeting and financial analysis,
due diligence, revolving credit facilities, partnership
consolidations, acquisitions, mergers, and private
placement equity offerings.
John has a B.S. Degree in Business Administration
from Western Carolina University, and a Graduate
Certificate in Housing and Urban Development
from The American University in Washington, D.C.
John served in the U.S. Army's 25th Infantry
Division (Tropic Lighting) in the Republic of
South Vietnam from 1968 to 1969, and was awarded
the Bronze Star Medal, the Army Commendation
Medal, and the Combat Infantryman's Badge. Currently,
he is a member of the 25th Infantry Division
Association, and the 5th Infantry Chapter. He
is married and has one daughter.
